The Truth About Teens & Out-of-Wedlock Births | RealClearPolitics

Michael Bloomberg, so recently lambasted here and elsewhere as a "leftist" for his attempt to ban certain sizes of soda drinks, has another campaign underway. He wants people to have children in wedlock.

As Ruth Marcus points out, this isn't exactly straight from the pages of Mao's Little Red Book. And as Marcus points out, the evidence is overwhelming that he's right about this: single-parenthood is a disaster, particularly when the single parent is a young girl.

For Marcus, "the question about the New York program is whether it will work". But perhaps that's not really the point: legislation, even when it only affects one city, sets a tone, sends a message, provides a precedent. So, in this, I wish that "commie rat" Mr. Bloomberg all the best.

Well I guess that would revive another revenue stream since you have to pay for a marriage license.
That's $40 a pop.

More likely, he's exhausted the arsenal of hair-brained feel-good leftist sophistry and went with the only option remaining.
