In several schools across the country, Muslims are being allowed prayer time. Rooms are set aside for this purpose and students are sometimes excused from class to attend prayers.
Keep in mind that this is, so far, only for Muslims.
Meanwhile, Christian prayer has been abolished from schools and school sponsored events across the country.
One more example of political correctness run amok.

Have Christian students (or parents) asked for a specific time for prayer for the student or are you confusing official school sponsored prayer with personal prayer that happens to be at a school?

Hmmm, lack of logic "run amok."

Do you think that would matter? As far as I know, there are no set times for Christians to pray.

I'm not confusing anything. IMO, giving special treatment to any religion, including setting aside special rooms and excusing students from class to attend prayer for one religion while not offering the same for every other, is discrimination.

We, the US, is so busy trying not to offend anyone that we are quickly erroding the concepts, yes, Chrisitian concepts, that the country was built on and giving away our own culture, freedoms and beliefs in the process.

just kate

Sorry but this is just another example of the U.S.'s mind boggling appeasement to Muslim special interests. Read my post below about the student facing four years for tossing a Koran in the toilet!

Appeasement only makes the agressor (radical Islam) more agressive. We do so at our own peril. Sorry guys, time to pull the blinders off.

And for JoeP:

Christians in this country haven't asked for a special 'prayer time' because they understand the concept that there is a division between church and state in this country. Any school funded by the taxpayer should not be a place of worship no matter how intimidating the religion or how politically correct we strive to be.

They won't be happy with just having Muslim prayer time in schools. Remeber this is the religion of perpetual outrage.

JoeP, Do you honestly believe that if a Christian parent walked into a public school and asked that a special room with the appropriate accouterments be set aside for little John or Jane to pray in and that the child be excused from class to do so, that the school would accommodate that request??

One nation under GOD.... this country was founded under those beliefs and they are being erroded by politically correct local municipalities. When is America going to stand up for the fundamentals it was founded under ? When in Rome, do as the Romans do, when in America do what you like our citizens are flexible. What a joke it's becoming.

LMAO.....some of you are culturally insensitive and this has nothing to do with pandering to muslims, being politically correct, or not respecting christina values.

The fact of the matter is that real Muslims who are believers of the Quran and all its teachings MUST PRAY 5 TIMES A DAY TOWARDS MECCA-EAST. Theirs absolutely nothing wrong accommodating someones beliefs and if the christian faith had these requirements you could bet believe it would be allowed.......This is much todo about nothing

Muslim Sharia law also allows the stoning of women for being adulterers, are you okay with that also? How about the beating of 'disobedient' wives? This is NOT about Americans being insensitive, it's about Muslims trying to turn America into Saudi Arabia. Why did they leave in the first place?

Muslims have no intention of turning the US into Saudi Arabia. That's ridiculous. Please don't conveniently forget the bloody history of Christianity as it was spread to the unwilling and innocent. I don't recall Christianity supporting women suffrage in the early part of last century and I don't recall Christianity ever at the forefront of women's issues. You still can't be a woman priest/preacher/whatever in many denominations.

Many of us on this forum will live long enough to see huge societal changes in the West. I believe that France, in a very few decades, will have enough Muslims that, if not a numerical majority, they will at least form a huge, powerful and unstoppable voting bloc, and will in fact be a majority soon thereafter. It will be interesting at that point to see just how interested this group will be in the concept of a "multicultural France". Somehow, I don't think that will be their goal. We'll soon find out....
The rest of the West will rapidly follow, and our grandchildren may well inherit a civilization in which our present-day bickering over illegal immigration looks like a Sunday-school picnic.....
