When I was growing up here in Idaho, the age of constant was 14 with parental approval. It is 18 now, I believe.
A good friend of mine had just turned 18 when he married his 16 year old girlfriend, and they've been together for 35 years now. Her parents approved after he assured them that she would graduate from High School, and she did.
I also know 2 people, a man and a woman, who went before a judge and had themselves declared an emancipated minor. As such, they legally reached legal consent at that point. The guy was 13, and the gal was 14. Both became self-sufficient afterward, and both worked their way through high school and college. (They don't know each other, by the way. The gal lived here, and the guy lived in Michigan at the time.)
Neither could get a driver's license until they were of legal age, and neither could vote, but that was about it. They became young adults at a time when most kids are still in Jr. High.
Doesn't anybody believe in the sovereignty of a state anymore? We are not supposed to be all the same, by design. If you don't like one, you move to another that has fewer or more laws to you liking. Same with sovereignty of nations.
31 states have a general age of consent 16. It can be as low as 12 if the other person is close to the same age. Atates like Connecticut say within 1 year...while some go up to 4 years like Arkansas.
