White people born and bred in Africa - are they Africans or not?
I'm thinking of places like South Africa and Zimbabwe.
What is their status?
According the South African Government and the standards they use for their own census, no. They are "white." Here are the categories reflected in their Census figures:
I would say yes, but to be more specific I'd refer to them as Euro-Africans. Labels are tricky tho, for example, I'm a native New Mexican, but I'm not Mexican, new, or a native (indigenous).
