Very true... Virtually every mass shooting incident has involved people on anti=depressants or some other pharmaceutical. Each one gave indications in advance of their instability and instead of saying we need to find these ticking time bombs before they explode, instead our government goes after guns... Why? Because to the government it isn't about a mass violence tragedy, it's about disarming the general population and USING a tragedy in order to accomplish it. It isn't only the democrats, it's some republicans too. Let's address the issue of mental health in this country. Millions of people in this country own AR's and AK's and high capacity magazines and none of them go off the rails. They are responsible gun owners. For the most part, those committing these crimes don't own the weapons they use, but instead steal them. Given that, how is it going to help to have more intrusive background checks? Common sense has left the building in this country and our government is leading the way to the exit.

Nancy Lanza was a responsible, law-abiding gun owner. Which I'm sure is a comfort to the parents of those dead children.

No, Nancy Lanza was an irresponsible gun owner who probably never would have been a gun owner if not for the frenzy that is always caused by efforts at gun control for people to go out and buy guns. Every time this happens, thousands of people who have never owned or even considered owning a firearm run out and buy one. For some this is fine, but for those who won't take adequate steps to secure their weapons it leads to tragedy. It is all brought on by gun control efforts.

Many of these drugs have right on them that one of the side effects are thoughts of suicide. It's not a far leap from suicide to taking others with you.

How we address this is a very difficult question but as I've stated in other threads, nothing happens until the discussion actually starts but it seems the only thing people are interested in is how large of a clip should we allow.

The mentally ill on these drugs do not care.

They found the drugs, no word he was prescribed (or was taking) the meds. Neither is a hypnotic either.

Probably a good thing no one had his medical records illegally. The fine for that is quite staggering.

George Zimmerman, who murdered Trayvon Martin, was on Tamazepam, according to the paramedic's incident report reproducing his medical records. (Tamazepam is also known as Restoril and is prescribed for anxiety and insomnia.) He also was taking the amphetamine psychostimulant Adderall for ADD.

Perhaps this was a contributing factor and perhaps not... We will find out at trial. That is why we have trials and not lynch mobs.
