The only people paying taxes now are the middle class. The rich are making money off of infrastructure that the middle class is paying for.

You are suggesting that the so called "rich" don't pay taxes? Am I understanding you correctly???

A little math here.

During WW II, the highest marginal tax rate was 94%. A few years after it went down to 91%.

So if a person makes $1 Million a year, what is their tax bill, assuming no deductions?

I'll make it even easier for you to answer.

How much does a person who makes $349,7000 a year owe under the current tax structure?

The table is here.
2007 Income Tax Bracket - Marginal Tax Rate

If you think they owe $1,223,950, then you don't understand progressive taxation.

Umm, false.

Why don't you go look up the facts on that from the US Treasury. Or is that another "Bush controlled" institution, so you must get your valid data from Moveon.org?

Aren't you the one expecting everyone to pay more taxes so others can gain benefit from it?
"On your own" meaning as a hermit out in death valley somewhere, right? Or sailing the seas on your one-man pirate ship?

We have plenty of desperate poverty compared to, say... Canada, or Germany, places like that. It's all relative. UN reports have measured living conditions in some inner cities, as measured by things like lifespan and child mortality, to be comparable to some "third-world" countries. Plus we have all the violence and crime that tends to accompany harsh poverty, something that isn't nearly as big of a problem in most of the developed world as it is here.

Nomander, your awesome drugs totally turned me into a born-again conservative! I now love Reagan and hate poor people + the environment, and am possesed by a ridiculous, irrational fear of Mexicans and Muslims. Now I can have my own AM radio show! Yaaaaay.
