If you had to guess, who do you think is responsible for the Boston bombings, and why? (legal, Simpson)

I think it's a "lone wolf" attack by someone living legally in the US. I find the timing interesting - not only is April 15 Patriots Day in Massachusetts, it's also the IRS Tax deadline.

For that matter, here are some other significant events from history, which happened on April 15:

April 19 is coming up - that's the date of the OKC bombing as well as the date of the Branch Davidian compound raid.

I know that if I were law enforcement, I'd be looking at EVERY significant historical event of April 15. I mean, obviously whoever did this is an evil sicko, so I'd look at all possibilities, which I'm sure is what's being done.

I have no opinion yet on whether or not the event is tied to Islamic extremists, or if it's domestic, whether the perpetrator(s) is right or left wing - or somewhere in between. But I do bet that it's a domestic attack by a lone wolf type.

Of course, I could be completely off target. Like most other Americans, I'm simply curious, and speculating.

Considering there was no 'chatter' or warning, I'd have to agree with you. I'd imagine it's very hard to keep a conspiracy secret in the post-9/11 world. Particularly, one hatched by foreign nationals. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a lone perpetrator who was avenging some real or perceived grievance against community.

OTOH, Islamic fundamentalists do have a reputation and it would irresponsible to rule them out at this stage.

I believe a third Ricin laced letter was just found - or maybe it's just another "suspicious letter." News reports aren't really clear because it's breaking news. These letters are being sent to both Democratic and Republican politicians. Not sure if there's any sort of connection with the Boston bombings. What do you guys think?

Actually, six "suspicious letters" to various politicians have been intercepted in the past 24 hours. Wonder what's up?

After 9/11 there was no connection found between the anthrax letters and the terrorist attacks.
