In most states you can not be fires exclusively for your gender, race, religion, and in some states sexual orientation. I don't recall political activist group being a protected status.

Curves is a private members only club. You have to buy a membership to go there.
Hooters has been to court on their hiring practice, they settled, but did not change hiring practices. They did create other serving positions for males.

It is not difficult for a Catholic Church to argue or institute the idea that a healthy body is more than just one that can run laps around the gym. That a PE teacher is there not only to teach them volleyball but also to minister to the students the other teachings of a healthy body.

If the church itself had applied the same standards to its own predator priests the school's action might be acceptable, it didn't and it isn't.

Good. It's about time the Catholic church stood by its morals and ethics. I'm sick to death of the PC crowd and ACLU.

Catholic schools still have to follow state and federal employment laws.

No they don't. As noted earlier, the courts are reluctant to not protect those like janitors but not those in teaching positions.

Personally, I think the Church should file a lawsuit for fraud.
You are aware that countless Catholics support gays and reject the Vatican's view right? There are pro-gay Catholic Churches in this country.

You do realize the ACLU has defended Christians more than any group right?

“But so, too, is the interest of religious groups in choosing who will preach their beliefs, teach their faith and carry out their mission.”

In addition to ministers, priests, rabbis and other religious leaders, the decision appears to encompass, for instance, at least those teachers in religious schools with formal religious training who are charged with instructing students about religious matters.

Asked about professors at Catholic universities like Notre Dame, Professor Laycock said: “If he teaches theology, he’s covered. If he teaches English or physics or some clearly secular subjects, he is clearly not covered.”
from your link.

How is a PE teacher preaching their beliefs, teaching their faith, or carrying out their mission?
I don't recall dodgeball or calisthenics mentioned in the bible.
