The use of chemical weapons is cowardly at best...........

"Most governments now regard such weapons as militarily redundant, as demonstrated by their membership of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), which prohibits the production and use of chemical weapons, commits them to destroying all existing stocks, and prevents reacquisition. Yet advances in a range of scientific fields – such as neuroscience and nanotechnology – and the growing convergence of chemistry and biology, while offering the hope of benefits to medicine and civil society, also bring the potential for a new era in chemical warfare."

We must wake up to the threats of new chemical weapons - opinion - 15 April 2013 - New Scientist

Crux of the article...

Preventing and prohibiting misuse without impeding the beneficial development of science and technology is a delicate balancing act but a necessary one.
I don't see what is so controversial about it. This is what pretty much everyone wants with an ounce of sanity.

OP, why don't you make an actual comment about why you believe this is political or controversial?

The essential technology of making chemical, biochemical and biological weapons is so intertwinned in the practice of madern tecnological society that it can't be untangled. Like original sin we have taken a big bite of this apple and will have to live with the consequenses as long as we don't extinguish our race with its misuse.

cant rep you but well said. the genie is out of the bottle, it has been for quite some time now. the best we can do is try to build defenses against these weapons so that if rouge nations or terrorist groups decide to use them, we can counter them as best as possible.

Nanos are everywhere, and they are not being reported.

The Material Safety Data Sheets do not disclose nanos.

I heard that in around 40 years new laboratory methods, and personal computers will allow regular people to make biological weapons at home.

But today in America we can't even ban assault weapons (when they are being used to kill little children in schools.).
