On the TV, Section 8 areas are always portrayed as predominantly black.

Is this true and what is the % of black/mixed/dark to White skinned residents?

And if this is the case, why is it so , and is this not a cause of crime and welfare?

I would guess that section 8 is predominantly in cities, which those in poverty are predominantly minorities.
Poor whites are largely in rural areas. Just a guess.

But to answer your specific questions, which asks percentages, do your own research. We aren't your research staff.

Well, I was hoping that some of you here have either lived in, near or passed through section 8 areas.

And how about in small towns and villages - are there any section 8 areas there?

I don't have the stats but for some reason Blacks dominate Section 8, the one report I saw says they're the majority but I haven't seen the underlying data.

So surely that is part of the problem then as this is a form of segregation.

And what about poor white people, where do they live?

Can't speak for anywhere else, but around here in this very rural area i'd say 95% are white in the section 8 type housing..they usually have 5 or more pitbulls, half dozen kids and a meth habit to contend with also.

The families receiving Section 8 assistance are 40 percent white, 41 percent black, 16 percent Hispanic, 2 percent Asian, and 1 percent Native
American. Forty-six percent of the families with children have their primary income
from wages, 36 percent from public assistance, and the remainder from Social
Security, SSI, and pensions. Families with tenant-based assistance are very poor;
their median income is $8,663. While families with children have a slightly larger
median income of $9,654, as we have seen, less than one-half of them have their
primary income from wages, and even among families who do work, average
income is only $14,657.

ok, thanks - so seems fairly mixed.

So why do TV shows always show projects to be 'black'.

Or are projects a different case altogether - because this is really what I wish to discuss.

I'm sure if you contacted someone in your state government, they could point you where to go to get the numbers. I see no reason why I or anyone else should do research for you.
