NEW YORK — A fury erupted Tuesday over Mayor Michael Bloomberg's remarks that a police detective who worked on the World Trade Center cleanup is "not a hero" because his death was ruled unrelated to the toxic debris.

Discover Magazine had a long article about 'World Trade Center Cough'

Article

In any case, it seems to be no joke.

There are plenty of "public servants" who turned out not to be "heroes" in the chaos of the 9/11 events. This stuff will make your stomach turn.

What got me in the uriginal linked article is virtually the only quote is "not a hero", for all we know Bloomberg said an uptown cabbie is "not a hero"

From what I've read of Zadroga that's not the case, he spent at least 400 hours on 'the pile', the disparity in the medical reports has to make you wonder about just who's interests are being served.

That's true, details and context are sketchy in the linked article.

One thing that's NOT in doubt: this is hardly the first time "Bloomie" has come off looking like a bloomin' idiot!
