Well, we could ask the same about the supposedly heterosexual athletes who parade their 'beauties' before the cameras, often joke about their attractiveness to the opposite sex, make jokes about their sexual exploits or abilities. I'm thinking that people in same sex relationships want to live their lives in the open and have everyone accept them and their choice as we accept people and their heterosexuality. I don't doubt the man is proud of who he is. God loves us all.
You do realize that his announcement will not change how people feel about homosexuality. If anything, many of the athletes probably hate him even more, because they know that they can't voice their opinions openly, without receiving backlash from the media. Those who do not agree with it, will continue to view it as sinful behavior, while those who do not have a problem with it, won't care either way.
I don't know what makes straight men think all gay men want them...."newsflash": we don't.
So you don't care about our feelings then, just your own? We should accept you in the shower?
Again, I think it's great that the guy is happy in his own skin as he said. Happy for him.
But don't expect everyone to be happy about it and straight players in the NBA may not like it at all and may not feel comfortable at all with him.
So who cares about their feelings?
It sure would be easier on everyone if he kept his private life private, unless he was being discriminated against by people's suspicions--THEN I feel they should tell the truth and be protected.
First gay major sports player comes out. Will this ruin pro sports?
Nope.
What ruined pro sports was the day they allowed "commercial time-outs."
I used to love the NFL. But that was before it took them 4 hours to telecast 60 minutes of football. It's now unwatchable with the constant viagra, light beer and razor blade commercials.

Now, my autumn Sunday afternoons are free.
I still like football. But you're right, all of those damn tv timeouts are a pain in the a**!
If someone was not famous, in the spot light would we really care straight or gay or BI what you do in your personal life.
It appears society is more concerned what a few people do the public eye and since its a story. SEX has and ways will be a story of which AMERICA and many other countries have a hard time talking about or thinking about because they are repressed and close minded to what sex is.
Or loving relationships and or anything else we have alot of people ready to judge and or confort issues that really don't even need to be discussed.

Oh, those poor intolerant bigoted dears, they won't be able to spout off out loud their hateful views of gays. Oh nos!!
