As most of what he wants to do seems to involve spending money and/or making government even bigger I'd say great.

history is simple to quote.

When President Obama took office, Al Franklin had not been sworn in because the Republican in Minnesota refused to accept defeat. = 58 Democratic votes

Arlen Spector switched to the Democratic Party in April of 2009 = 59 votes.

In May, Robert Byrd went into the hospital = 58 votes

in July Al Frankin finally gets sworn in , = 60 votes in theory, but 59 in actuality as Robert Byrd was still in the hospital and unable to vote.

Ted Kennedy died in August, back down to 58

Paul Kirk was appointed in September = 59

from the time Robert Byrd left the hospital till the Day Scott Brown was sworn in was a total of 23 legislative days ( or 3 weeks)

so again, tell me how i am rewriting history ?

President Obama cant increase his support by moving to the right. Anytime he has done it, these threads lightup with " arent you liberals mad that he betrayed you, i still wouldnt vote for him" and blah, blah, blah,. He is in a no win situation with your side.

That being said, he did win the election, regardless of if it was by a lesser margin than the previous election. If you are going to argue margin of victory, can we include gerrymandering and the fact that House Democrats won the popular vote ?

Minutiae. Politics is a game of compromise. With a few moderate Republicans available to cross party lines on just about any issue, your math is pretty much irrelevant.

There is no such thing as winning the House of Representatives by popular vote.

Democrats lost the House in 2010 and did not regain it in 2012, even with BO heading the ticket.

So what? He still won.

And with divided government....and his rigid ideology......he gets nothing done. Winning is worthless if there's very little to show for it.

so, you get proven wrong and you change your argument to start claiming that moderate republicans were just willing to jump ship ?

come on AeroGuy, you can debate better than that, i expect better of you.

So republicans filibuster for 2 years and then claim Obama has done nothing, great strategy, it obviously worked. I just dont get why someone like you who knows that strategy would continue to blame obama for nothing getting done. You are right, he has little to show for it, but why are you ok with Republicans delaying progress. Do you honestly disagree with everything President Obama has done/tried to do ?

"I won, you lost, get over it."

He opened his presidency with fighting words and lost the respect of half of America almost immediately. It's been downhill since.
