Whereas the GI Generation, Silent Generation, Boomers and Tweeners valued building Wealth over material things, and sought to build Wealth before acquiring material things, many of the Generation X-Box and Generation Y-Work prefer to spend their time and money acquiring material things, instead of building Wealth...
...and then are obtuse enough to whine and cry about not having Wealth.
Also, as a reminder, stocks are merely one of several dozens methods of investing.
People who are fascinated with the Stock Markets are rather silly and one-dimensional.

Wall Street is a nest of swindlers. You buy stock, you know they are doing things to take your money. But enough fools will wander back in to entertain these swindlers.
A lot of people are struggling simply to put food on the table and a roof over their heads and, as a result, have no money to invest in the market.
