She had more than an 85% chance of developing breast cancer because of her BRCA gene. If I could have removed my lymph nodes to prevent getting cancer, I would have.

If I were a woman with a family history of breast cancer I would definitely consider it. As a male under the same circumstances with a family history of testicular cancer I would have to think about getting them removed as well.
Fortunately I am not in either circumstance so I do not have to make the decision. I just have to worry about diabetes and alcoholism. They took out my parents long ago.
Everyone in my family has died from cancer of one form or another. Now what?
