I also grew up in India and I can understand the frame of reference. Even professionals in different countries are affected and constrained by their local culture. It affects how they call things.

I've heard it helps, at least from anecdotes on ADHD forums, but it helps very minimally. So does Wellbutrin, which isn't as damaging as other stimulants. Tobacco can help as well, but I wouldn't recommend anyone take that!

Yeah, there are no studies to confirm that using stimulants for ADHD will make someone more likely to become a drug addict. On the contrary, not treating ADHD will make someone more likely to become a drug addict.

Are there any studies that confirm this hypothesis? Links?

Dr. Sarkis said said that if a French child with ADHD receives "excellent parenting, high structure, and clear expectations from parents" it can mitigate behaviors, However, it is "at the price of the child experiencing increased anxiety and internalizing problems". For those children who are not able to receive excellent parenting and high structure, ADHD behaviors can be extremely impairing.
