I have a response. In India, people who have high-functioning autism are even much less understood than here in the USA. I know this from a lot of time spent in wrongplanet.net, my father's very intelligent autism, my daughter's autism (she's very intelligent, too), and my time chatting with autistic people in India.
I also grew up in India and I can understand the frame of reference. Even professionals in different countries are affected and constrained by their local culture. It affects how they call things.
I've heard it helps, at least from anecdotes on ADHD forums, but it helps very minimally. So does Wellbutrin, which isn't as damaging as other stimulants. Tobacco can help as well, but I wouldn't recommend anyone take that!

I have know many children that were on Ritalin when they were children. They have become very productive adults. To stereotype everyone on Ritalin is just naive and wrong. Are you a doctor....doubt it.
Yeah, there are no studies to confirm that using stimulants for ADHD will make someone more likely to become a drug addict. On the contrary, not treating ADHD will make someone more likely to become a drug addict.
I think with their low diagnosis rate, it has to be way under diagnosed in France. I realize the US has a super high diagnosis rate, but most other developed countries have a lot higher diagnosis rate than France, so they can't all be wrong while France is right.
ADHD is silly and can be cured with a paddle or belt/
LOL... sure makes you wonder if this is true... my parents didn't play... they knocked some sense into me... I wonder if that is missing these days......

Dr. Sarkis said said that if a French child with ADHD receives "excellent parenting, high structure, and clear expectations from parents" it can mitigate behaviors, However, it is "at the price of the child experiencing increased anxiety and internalizing problems". For those children who are not able to receive excellent parenting and high structure, ADHD behaviors can be extremely impairing.
