It seems like Repubs are tripping over each other to support the rights of illegal immigrants in this country (a sizable, growing demographic), yet also loudly trounce on the liberties of gay American citizens, who make up less of the popul. If gays made up at least 15-20% of the population, would Repubs sell out their principles and support them too? At which percentage of voting population would it take for the Repubs to change their principles and abandon official hatred/indifference of gays and lesbians?

It's because background checks are already performed by gun dealers. Moving on.
