CMS changes course, will raise 2014 Medicare Advantage payments | Healthcare Payer News

I suppose that it's good for seniors who are on these plans, but what does it say about any time a tax increase or decreased entitlement is proposed? Government is always finding ways to spend our tax money and also preaching about how to lower the budget deficit and raise more taxes to do so. Just like there is a military industrial complex, it seems that there is also a health insurance/pharma industrial complex that scoffs and reacts every time the government attempts to lower its outlays. As recently as March 2013, CMS announced a 2.2% funding decrease. Then, it announced in April that it would be a 3.3% increase!!! How will this ever end? While this generation of seniors and those before them have it extremely good, what about the generations that come after them? Is it too much to ask that today's seniors sacrifice something for them?
