Dumb. Starbucks near me is a hangout for all the AA/NA losers that sit around and drink gallons of coffee and chain smoke all day. Wonder where they'll go now.
How exactly would you know who is hanging out at Starbucks all day? Unless of course you are there yourself all day.

Makes no difference to me. I couldn't tell you the last time I was within 25' of a SB. But why ecigs? Just another reason to never consider going there.

That's more descriptive about the local society in which you reside. The Starbucks near me is full of college students studying, book clubs and white collar professionals reading the Wall Street Journal.
I don't understand this. How can they ban smoking within 25 feet of their stores? Sure, if they own 25 feet of property surrounding a particular store they can, but where they don't - which I imagine is the case with most of their stores - how can they ban smoking on property that's not theirs?
I wouldn't know, I brew my own for what has to be 50 cents a pot. I drink a lot of it and used to take thermos with me when I was on the road. What's a Starbucks go for? $5? That's $1300 a year 5 days a week, you'd have to be nuts.
No they can't, if the state or local law already bans it that is what the law is. If it's not banned they cannot impose their own "law" on property they do not own or control. Sidewalks are not private...
