And as some people have previously said, the bulk of southern democrat voters are heavily concentrated in big cities. There's more electoral votes outside of those minority hubs and that's how southern states will remain red for a long time to come.

hmm. i'm no expert, but i was under the impression that the anglo-saxons had driven the british out of England by around 1000 AD.. which was right before the normans invaded and conquered the anglo-saxons.

That is one of the things that is changing in portions of the south. If you look at VA for example, the areas that are growing are not the rural areas, it is the large metro areas led by the D.C suburbs in NOVA.

You can say the same for Texas. It's the urban cities there that are the most liberal and the poorest counties near the border. The fairly wealthy and the fairly poor vote Dem in Texas.
