My family works in the meat packing industry. I have never heard of a shortage of bacon. Sounds like a side deal to me.
I believe if we put a true American effort into buying local and buying American we could really boost our trade. Would take a significant non-partisan effort though.

Meat in China is more expensive than in the US. Why would they make those things in China?
They import chicken and beef from the US every year.
You think US government will issue H1B visas to Chinese workers? Even those Chinese PhDs can't get one.
