This is all so confusing. Chicago is a liberal city so it stands to reason that Chicago's rich whites are liberals. We are told that only white conservatives are racist but now here's this teacher president accusing rich whites of racism.
"When will there be an honest conversation about poverty and racism and inequality that hinders the delivery of an education product in our school system? When will we address the fact that rich white people think they know what’s in the best interest of children of African-Americans and Latinos, no matter what the parents’ income or education level?” she asked.
Lewis said minority neighborhoods are disproportionately disinvested by the city, and see more foreclosures and school closures.
“It’s as if there were a concerted effort to make sure that these are not walkable, thriving, healthy communities,” she said.
Lewis also blamed banks for driving people out of their homes through illegal foreclosures, resulting in underutilized schools and a smaller tax base.
The calls, the excuses, the diviseness, the pitch, is becoming increasingly shrill with each passing day. By those who have spent the past five years emotionally investing so much in the current administration.
The shrillness is not just in education but also unions, the media, those in disadvantaged neighborhoods (who actually have so many more advantages than those who quietly just do their jobs, raise their children, pay their own way) and it is all unraveling before our eyes. Keep watching. Pay attention. It's going to be a very long and very hot summer.
Not saying it's conservative, but if you think it's liberal you obviously don't know a darn thing about the city.
