Clearly it doesn't work.

America spends over 18 % of GDP on healthcare. 8200 $ per citizen per year. The other deveoped nations average half that per person and generally get better results. Along with no medical bankrupcies, no insurance death panels, more freedom, etc.

In fact only two countries in the world spend more per person, on 100 % coverage univeral health care, than America spends on 27 % coverage government health care.

I would rather face a government "death panel" than a private sector "death panel". the former is likely to be indifferent and the later well paid to keep me from spending "their" money. I prefer the government spend money on providing health care for me and my friends than on selecting the Dictator Du Jure in some misbegotten Muslim land blessed with oil and cursed by fanatic religion and Western investment.

wrong

Govt regulation prevents hospitals from making decisions in these circumstances. Instead we have distressed and non-thinking family members making decision.

Ehm - the Texas Gvt. actually allows hospitals to make the decisions and override the family's wishes.

No kidding. We even had a homeless man who was scheduled for a kidney transplant. He would have gotten it, save for one thing. He refused to live indoors. We can't give a transplant with the resultant immunosuppressant drugs if you're going to live on the street. They even set up an apartment for him, but he didn't want it.
You think your insurance companies would cover someone like that? Not a chance. Here, EVERYONE is covered. It doesn't matter if you're a prince or pauper.

Now, now, you and Chris are upsetting the righties. We can't have calm, rational facts disproving their mouth-frothing. Besides, it's so much fun when they explode over stuff that they just made up!

I don't think "drift" quite covers the speed actually involved ...

Do you think, perhaps, that this is exactly why righties loathe it so much?

Can I get a job on the death panel? I will implement a policy that we will have to announce coverage decisions with as much enthusiasm as Trump does on the Apprentice:

"Your coverage is DENIED. Pack up your stuff and go die."

Oh wait... I don't have to wait two years. I can probably have the same job experience working at a private health insurer today....
