I say yes. As long as we have a large portion of the country using religion as a valid means of defending their political views, and since the majority of the religious in this country are Christian, we are a Christian nation.

What you mean is that christians make up a majority. The nation itself isn't christian. Just like it isn't white.

Why are so many Americans anti-same sex marriage and anti-Abortion? Is it because they believe these are morally wrong ideas, or is it because the Bible told them these are morally wrong ideas? I think it's safe to say that many of those who oppose these ideas would not oppose them had Christianity not said they were wrong.

No. While Christians make up the majority of Americans, there are also millions of people who are nonbelievers or followers of other faiths.

If we were such a nation, the Tea Party people would be screaming FOR a national health care plan for all of God's children, not trying to kill the effort. If we were such a nation, there'd be no opposition to gay marriage; people would leave other people alone to experience the dignity of their own life and marry whom they please.

I'm sure most of the Tea Party folks would call themselves Christian, as do millions of so-called evangelicals on the far right, all of whom wish for Obama to drop dead tomorrow and take every one of his initiatives with him. The far right uses their so-called christianity to bludgeon people with a bible. Other religions aren't much better (see radical Islam, etc).

Millions of fine people DO live their faith and are wonderful people, but the overall view is not good. It's especially dangerous when people try to inject their religion into our politics and government; keep those two separated.

That has nothing to do with your poll. People can and will be "anti" just about anything for a variety of reasons, not just because their are christian. There is very little that comes to mind that has 100% consensus.
