Right now, as far as I know, a psychologist can not be licensed by the American Psychiatric Association if they believe homosexuality can be changed and/or attempt reparative therapy of any kind. However, its still legal for an unlicensed 'doctor' or religious leader to attempt reparative therapy. Before you attack me for asking this question, I want to say its scientific fact gays are born that way and there is no possible way for sexual orientation to be changed or modified. Any reparative therapy simply teaches a gay person to supress their true identity. It's a dispicable practice that appears to be starting to disappear on its own i.e. Exodus. That said should it be legal? If not, should anybody attempting reparative therapy be charged with a felony offense? I am ONLY asking about this from a legal standpoint, NOT if the 'treatment' is ethical.
