Out in rural areas it is much higher, where ranchers pay cash and a fake or stolen SS# is not needed.
Well by all means whip out your numbers.....

Becoming energy independent is a HUGE benefit for the nation as whole. Why would you want to be dependent on countries which consider us their #1 enemy? I would like to see US disengage from mid-east, since our presence is clearly not welcome. Besides, the increase in supply may well bring down the price of oil, as that is one of the main indicators the speculators look at. Also, the oil boom creates jobs, and increases the tax revenues.

A couple of states have lowered their jobless rates. We still interfere in the middle east. and as mentioned Gas and energy prices are still rising.

America has not seen any benefits from this energy boom yet.

We will be the largest oil producer in seven years, which is very good news, and will reduce our dependency on our enemies a great deal.

I think $3-$4 gas prices is the new norm no matter what, so I don't expect large drops in that area.

What do you have against an oil boom? How could it possibly be a bad thing?

Nobody is mentioning what the long-term consequences of increased US oil production will affect our relationship with the Middle East, particularly Saudi Arabia and Israel. Anybody want to take a wild guess what this means for American involvement in the ME?

But, they are investing (just drive thru the DFW & Austin area and behold the massive road construction going on). Education is a ship that does not change course on a dime either. With the big jump in population, education does need to be addressed, but to knock the state as if Texans are comfortable in ignorance (which you have not done, but others have) and for no other reason than we just don't value it - is woefully ignorant and a falsehood using statistics that show very little.
Dont blame Texans for what the Lt. Gov and legislature wish to pursue...

We have a second special secession on school funding right...wait, no we dont.

Just on their precious East & West Coasts...

Obummer did shut down all drilling in the Gulf for awhile after the BP spill. That caused gas prices to spike.
