coup d'état (/ˌkuːdeɪˈtɑː/; plural: coups d'état), also known as a coup, a putsch, or an overthrow...is the sudden deposition of a government, usually by a small group —typically the military—to depose the extant government and replace it with another body, civil or military
A coup d'état is considered successful when the incumbent is removed and a replacement is in place
And just how does a recall seek to "depose the extant government and replace it with another body"?
A recall is a constitutionally sanctioned democratic process, hardly the same as a coup because whether you like it or not, VOTING someone out IS NOT the same as DEPOSING them.
the real question is what do the people want, and can they make up their own minds, and will their decision bode well for the USA or Israel, or the rist of the middle east/northern africa
a recall is a form of a coup...may not be a military action, but it is a form of a coup...like it or not they elected _______fill in the blank_______ for 4 years......a recall is like a coup, because its the minority (or sometimes the majority) having "buyers remorse'"...but like it or not..they elected him/her
It is nothing at all like a coup.
Did the National Guard in WI take over ?
A recall is another election process, not a military takeover.
And if they lose the recall then they make due until the next election.
I actually had hopes when the Vietnam debacle ended that we might actually learn what a fool's errand trying to police the can be.
Perhaps if we opened our eyes we'd be thanking China for demonstrating there are better ways to get what you want/need.
I knew we were in for the long haul when we sent troops into Afghanistan instead of a covert CIA operation to take out one man.
No, we had to decimate an entire country, take out another country while we were in the neighborhood only to find out he was living a quiet life in Pakistan right under the government's nose all this time.

We're now venturing into Africa.
China has been there for a while.
They've been buying farms and mines and building up roads and towns and signing trade deals.
We're going in there with boots to help them "fight terrorism"

If an army of thousands from various countries couldn't find OBL in Afghanistan, do you really think a handful of CIA operatives would have?
It's illegal, but there are times when it's been used as a last resort to restrain other, greater illegality. I would cite the current Egyptian case as well as Romania in 1989, the Philippines in 1986, Portugal in 1974 and Chile in 1973 as examples. All those cases ended more or less democratically, although in Chile it took a long time and things arguably got worse before they got better.

Well that's how it ended up isn't it ?
We have the NSA now remember so it's not just a "handful of operatives" anymore.
It was a mere phone call that caught him.
And the caller's name was given to the CIA by a prisoner held in a secret CIA prison in eastern Europe years ago.
Let's ask Code Pink. You remember them in Egypt smooching with the Muslom Brotherhood, don't ya?
"Enter The Muslim Brotherhood. What do a group of “womyn’s rights” activists have in common with Islamofascists, you may ask? That’s a good question considering they should have opposing views on female genital mutilation, wife-beating, the stoning of women, the inability of women to work and any other Islamic oppression of women that most “womyn’s” groups say they’re against. But if you package it up in a “religion” somehow the “feminists” can stomach little girls being held down by their mothers and sliced with a razor blade. It’s all in the name of solidarity (against Israel and America.) "
Fresh on the heels of their Hamas-protected trip to Gaza, the so-called feminist, American antiwar group Code Pink, co-founded by top Obama funder Jodie Evans, is running banner advertisements on the English language version of the official Web site of a terrorist sympathizing group, the Muslim Brotherhood, one of which invites the Muslim Brotherhood to “join us in cleansing our country.” The ad, titled “Arrest the War Criminals” with a subhead that contains the invitation to “join us in cleansing our country” links back to a Code Pink site that calls for the kidnapping of former President George W. Bush, his wife Laura and other former members of his administration through ‘citizens arrests’ for defending America against terrorists in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks by Al Qaeda.
"Cindy Sheehan traveled to Egypt in February 2008. She was there to protest for the release of the Muslim Brotherhood members detained by the Mubarak regime."
"The voice of that woman is worth paying attention to."-President Obama paying homage to Medea Benjamin.
...Benjamin and the group she co-founded, Code Pink, have worked with state sponsors of terrorism, terrorist groups and domestic terrorists to undermine the U.S. and her allies in the war on terrorism. However, Benjamin and Code Pink have also worked with President Obama at the same time to accomplish some of the same goals--beginning in early 2007 when Obama tapped Code Pink co-founder Jodie Evans as a fundraising host and then as a fundraising bundler for his nascent presidential campaign. Code Pink has even acted, at times, as a messenger between terrorists and Obama."
