Actually I do think a woman had a right to choose what does and doesn't grow inside her body. And you are right, no one is forcing a woman to have a baby, that is why she has the choice of abortion if she chooses to not give birth to the fetus inside her.

You've got that right. Maybe some of you don't remember that chilling paper "The Complete Lives System" written by then White House Advisor Rahm Emmanuel's doctor brother, Ezekiel. He's now with Think Progress (progress, my patootey).
The complete lives system produces a priority curve on which individuals aged between roughly 15 and 40 years get the most substantial chance, whereas the youngest and oldest people get chances that are attenuated. In other words, an 18 year old is worth more for health care spending than a 3 year old or a 55 year old. It also treats life-years given to elderly or disabled people as objectively less valuable.
That's why it's so important to ditch Obamacare. These Mengele-types like Ezekiel Emmanuel are the ones that influenced it.
I think that is up to a mother and possibly a father to decide if they wish to raise a child with down syndrome. It is not an easy choice to abort a child, it is also not an easy choice to raise a child with down syndrome.

I am a strong supporter of right to life and I can only understand abortion in rare situation, but there are times when it is an option...and only those faced with the decision can know how it feels.
Our granddaughter, who is very pro life was carrying a baby that had no nose, a deformed forehead aht the brain was outside the skull. It was not down syndrome I will add and yes, you can determine down syndrome prior to 20 weeks. Anyway, they made the decision to terminate the pregnancy and I know how hard it was for them. since then, they have had a wonderful, healthy, very busy little girl.

I have found that in many cases like this the family fought tooth and nail to keep possession of the neglected child.

This happens and what is amazing that it doesn't happen more often. This could have been my daughter had I not taken her away from her mother. $26,900 dollars in legal fees later my daughter is alive and well. She weighed 84 pounds and was in the ICU for 2 weeks and still the county/state wanted to return her to the loving care of her mother.

Except in the cases of rape, the woman is the person who makes the decisions. A woman who is not willing to deal with the concept of contraceptive failure and it's subsequent consequences would be well advised to keep her legs together. Of course, that advice is not as practical for a married woman, but people need to be responsible for their actions.
