Actually, the reporters didn't want to include Monsanto's statement in the report while the managers of the local station wanted to include the statement to be fair even though all agreed they felt the statement was false. This was standard practice among many TV stations. Do a hard hitting piece against someone or a company and then get the statement from the person or company they're attacking to try to be fair. Their piece did eventually run, with Monsanto's statement included. They fought against including Monsanto's lies even though it was a standard practice to give them a chance to respond.
