Two Barack votes and a McAuliffe. Will VA be considered blue? Is it even possible to still consider it a red state and not at least purple?

McAuliffe is going to have to face a state house that'll most likely sit at 65-35 GOP after tonight.

it is a purple state and always has been. lots of government workers make up the "liberals." government contractors who are forced to work with government employees, and realize how incompetent are begging for a legitimate third party.

The governor is a figurehead. The legislature is what determines the color of a state. Virginia is RED.

Virginia is a red state. NoVA, the most populated area in the state, is blue. If I drive 25 miles south it is like entering a different world.

Having grown up in Northern VA and knowing most of VA history.

The short and long answer is NO. It's not a blue state.

Once you leave the Northern VA suburbs the state itself becomes pretty much the traditional southern state.
