Amazon recently launched an "Election Heat Map" to get a better sense of the sorts of books folks are buying now. And perhaps not surprisingly, it indicates that the U.S. is enthralled with conservative titles.... but way out of whack to the number of Democrats vs Republicans, or Liberals vs Conservatives.

So who's buying all this stuff, or do conservatives just have an endless appetite for things like...

• Godless: The Church of Liberalism
• Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism
• Fool Me Twice: Obama’s Shocking Plans for the Next Four Years Exposed
• Why I Turned Right: Leading Baby Boom Conservatives Chronicle Their Political Journeys
• One-Party Classroom: How Radical Professors at America's Top Colleges Indoctrinate Students and Undermine Our Democracy
• Why the Left Hates America: Exposing the Lies That Have Obscured Our Nation's Greatness
• The Obama Hate Machine
• Blacklash: How Obama and the Left Are Driving Americans to the Government Plantation

And are they just so gullible, that all you really need is a good title, something catchy like say,
"I was Obama's Muslim Kenyan Love Slave... A Lib-rul Exposé!"

I am not even a right winger but...

The fact is that hyperbolic covers and titles sell books.

You're probably right, and it's not unlike movie titles. But apparently Conservatives have a MUCH larger appetite for this kinda stuff!

They're also underwritten by plutocrats who don't care whether the books actually make any money -- which, ironically, is a very "socialist" thing to do.

Liberals like to be told what to think we conservatives like to think for ourselves and to take the consequences for our actions

I guess the big surprise it that the condescending left wingnuts on here will have to admit that rightwingers can read if this is the case..... unless they are going amend it and say they only want to look at the pictures

Could be because they read more.

It is a weird sort of thing in the political world in which a book is about vilifying an opposing viewpoint.

Could you imagine a book on Chinese cooking entitled Dolphin: The Japanese Sushi Secret?

Well, the chief organizing principle of the right wing for the past 4 years has been anti-Obamaism. It's all they stand for, and it's all they have.

Conservatives have an almost constant need to have their beliefs reinforced by the Fox News and right wing talk radio personalities. A lot of conservatives that I know will listen to talk radio during the work day, watch Fox News at night and buy books written by the same people that they watch and listen to. They get off on having their entrenched beliefs reinforced by the right wing pseudo intellectuals like Glenn Beck, Coulter and Hannity.

A lot of those books get printed and are purchased in bulk so that they can be given away to talk radio callers or in exchange for contributions to conservative campaigns or causes.
