on the rare occasion that you even get as far into it as being questioned by the lawyers for a case, and if you really want to get out of jury duty, just say you already have a feeling the defendant is guilty and he/she probably hired a lawyer just to get out of it....I know: it's a sneaky way to get out of it, but if you're hell-bent to get out of duty.....
You question the morals of people who throw away their summons and then recommend that people lie under oath to get out of being selected. Brilliant.

I've only been called to Jury Duty one time and after a couple hours was sent on my way without being chosen. I am dyslexic and it has not caused me major issues overall. I doubt anything you are hoping to be afflicted with will be an automatic for you to be excused.

The last time I ended up on a jury, the judge told us that even HE had to serve as a juror when called and that he could see through potential jurors' excuses. On that jury, there was a nursing mother, a student who lived 50 miles from the court, a man whose self-owned business couldn't function without him, and my mother was in the hospital. The judge said that he wasn't taking any hardship excuses. And there ya go. However, the defendant plea bargained and we were all dismissed after a few days. I find these cases fascinating...although I'd prefer to be called maybe once every five years.

voir dire: the process by which prospective jurors are questioned about their backgrounds and potential biases before being chosen to sit on a jury. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voir_dire

yes, the entire process is great to watch.....the individual judges have great latitude in what they'll allow and most I've encountered on jury duty are very savvy and smart....funny, I get a summons every few months, then go years without getting one....I show up and usually am allowed to go home by noon or am dismissed by a judge when the jury gets filled....

my suggestion was certainly not to lie....in fact, many find my suggestion to be very much the truth....

If you have dyslexia or ADHD or ADD you are not consider "dumb" I have dyslexia and finding out we do not have to go because of vocabulary isn't as high and we might have trouble understanding OR any other reason whatsoever because every dyslexic is different but that still doesn't mean were dumb. We just learn certain things differently . Most are not auditory learners We usually are visual and hands-on learners.

There is no such thing as ADD.

It just means that you are too smart for the subject and you are bored with it.
People long ago that would today be diagnosed with ADD & ADHD, are the movers and shakers that did big things. They couldn't sit still and be lazy for a second. There minds always thinking.

Just write the court, that you do not consent to be governed, so don't ask me to govern another individual. Only GOD will judge another human.

I bet you never get another jury duty summons. I haven't.

My wife gets them every 6 months. It has been 20 years since i got the last one.
