Think of it as a lot of these people being stranded instead of homeless. The often permanent homeless (mentally ill, drug addicts, etc...)that you see in many cities aren't getting to Hawaii. A lot of the "homeless" in Hawaii are people who had enough money for a one-way ticket, but had no plans, or prospects. They don't need to be taken care of, they need a way to get back to their homes or a place with better opportunities and a MUCH lower cost of living.

People go to Hawaii thinking they're going to live some tropical fantasy life an serf all day not realizing that the only people that get to do that are already rich.

I'm conservative and we conservatives don't want homeless in our backyards..remember ?
We're not tolerant, we're not caring, we have no compassion for the poor.

I don't hesitate to comment that there's a difference between helping hand and handout.
A homeless park with RVs and everything paid is a handout..something the liberals push.

Yet THEY don't want it in their communities.

Looks like it was going to be set up and run by private charities. Don't you conservatives approve of that sort of thing, as opposed to government handouts?

Austin is a liberal city and it was the liberals that decided No.

Conservatives are worse. They would ignore them and simply tell them to "get better."

And other liberals who wanted to set it up in the first place. So which "liberals" are you bashing here?

Got to love it. You're bad but conservatives are worse.
No, more like you're hypocrites saying one thing but doing another.

I'm not going to debate flavors of liberals here.
There's also been a proposal for affordable housing and that failed as well.

Gentrification does not include the poor it seems.

Send them all to California. They can do pretty well in that state.
