Awesome article, a must read as to why Asian Americans including South Asian, South East Asian and Middle Eastern(yes it's part of Asia) are stereotyped, ridiculed and mainstream America thinks it's all fun Solidarity is for white women and Asian people are funny | Racialicious - the intersection of race and pop culture

K. I didn't read it but do you have a question about a relationship?

You want an American of a different race but can't cause your Asian?

What?

You could just assimilate into the politically correct mainstream, unless youre one of those people who are fine with being an individual?

The white male 18 to 35 is the most hated on group in America . It is ok it just means I have to work twice as hard to make something of myself.

What does it mean when someone writes on their dating profile, Must be open minded and I only date with in my race?

Isn't that an oxymoron?

In my sophomore year in college, after I learned of Japanese-American activist Yuri Kochiyama’s role in the civil rights movement and asked a sociology professor why none of our classroom discussions included any mention of her role, she told me that “bringing an Asian into the discussion on civil rights would just confuse people.” (from the linked article)

Something like that would never happen in most Women's Studies classes. Also the comment about solidarity only being for White women. That's far from true in Women's Studies programs, which have been called "Marxist" simply because of their analysis of marginalization and exploitation that's all-inclusive across racial and national boundaries.

Nope, don't make generalizations yet. Read the article first, it throws light on the racial stereotyping that is perpetrated towards Asian Americans and how it's passed off as being in jest. Regarding getting an American that's the least of my worries, considering the fact that I would have more worries after getting one. So read the article first.

Wrong. Even if it were true, show me proof of that being true. If anything the White male is the one that's not stereotyped in the least and is given the benefit of doubt to be anything while other ethnic men get stereotyped as thugs, taxi drivers, effeminate nerds etc etc. This is your good old USA we are talking about here.

The truth? Even though....
Mod cut: Off topic.

"mainstream America" is too busy living their lives, working to recover from the housing crisis and recession, among other horrendous real word problems like the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary, to spend even a second of its time THINKING about Asian Americans in particular, much less wasting any of it on "ridiculing" them

Get over yourself, as you are your own biggest obstacle to success in life.
