Mormons. I work with many of them out of the Salt Lake area, and they are well educated with a strong work ethic.
Also, a lot of the success has to do with the same things that makes the Bay area successful: large investments from technology companies, most of which originated in that evil state of California.
SLC and Utah are reasonably nice places but it is not clear they are in fact successful. In a number of major economic parameters they trail both Nevada and AZ.
So you enjoy weak, overpriced beer. I prefer my beer and liquor to have a higher alcohol content.
You can get a "full" beer there. Granted, you will pay more but it is available.
I have friends that moved there and when they went to a restaurant and wanted a beer they couldn't believe that there was a separate line item for full beer. I think the wife said, who orders less than a full beer? Of course she had no idea what it was until they explained it.
Having done a lot of business in Utah, I'm confident the good people of Utah feel likewise about Liberal ilk.
