I just saw a thread discussing the political affiliation of the next president. The only options were Democrat, Republican, or Independent.

To disrupt the political power grab the Democrats and Republicans have on this country, would you pledge to vote Independent or 3rd party?

If enough Americans made this pledge if could totally disrupt the power grab that Democrats and Republicans share in our government.

Would you (Democrats and Republicans) be willing to take a pledge to vote Independent?

I am already 3rd party but do not want to take a pledge, I am against them because they trap you in a box. Plus Rand Paul could get the {R} party nod and if not maybe someone else who has a different foreign policy and is against all the NSA and other crap that is going on might be a alternative.

Pledging to vote a vague, easily corruptible label, sight-unseen, is irrational.

Depends on the 3rd party, but I doubt it. You need money to run for president these days and most 3rd party candidates don't have much of that.

My state has voted D in the last 7 prez elections, Obama won by 26% in 2012. My vote doesn't matter. Barring some crazy unforeseen development before 2016, I'll be voting 3rd party as I've done the last few elections.

What I'm talking about is an American Movement to disrupt the power that both parties hold on Washington.

Community elected/suggested candidates. Less corporate influence over candidates. Candidates who run key issues or philosophies rather than broad ideas and concepts.

I'm talking about abandoning the norm and challenging both parties to come up with better alternatives rather than simply holding onto power.

If Democrats joined with you (and Republicans) to vow for change, it would negate the Democratic stronghold in your state.

"Disrupt" rather than honorably attracting support through actually doing the work of convincing Americans that your movement actually has better ideas.

Noted.

And thank you for being honest about that.

As an Independent, of course I would vote for Independent. Its the only way to save our nation in all honesty.
