You need to define "in this manner".

Doing what? The time honored, Constitutional mechanism where the HOUSE must originate spending bills?

How do you have a problem with that?

You really think that people of an age to vote are buying Miley Cyrus' music?

Hand on the pulse of the nation, you have.

The SCOTUS has already found it to be constitutional. You must have missed that. Big story about it a while back.

[quote=TigerLily24;31496942]In one paragraph you state that the public service employees you know put what appears to you to be a large amount of money back into the economy by way of contracting services, etc. and then in another you say that the public sector does not produce wealth.
[/quote\

The original poster is demonstrating that public sector employees TAKE A LOT OF MONEY OUT OF THE ECONOMY and produce NO wealth.

Quote:
Do you not believe that the money that these people pay for these services enhances the financial states of those who sell these services?
Yes, it does. And it harms those who have to pay for it all.

Quote:
Also, do you believe that the teachers, FBI agents, etc. do NOT work for their money as alluded to by your statement about always having worked for yours? Do you think that these service providers are NOT working for their money?
Whether they "work" or not, they still produce nothing.

Really?
If this is really what people believe that I think I now understand how so many are disconnected from reality.
I think it more applies to you.

As for the OP, I agree that actions of the GOP are not the actions of professionals. I doubt, however, that there is much that can be done at this point to change the trajectory. They've invested way too much in defunding and to stop now would be a complete betrayal of their base.
Obamacare - passed SOLELY by Democrats was NOT the work of "professionals", unless you mean "professional lobbyists, activists, and radicals".

Maybe I do have a low opinion of them - they are not "young adults", they are kids that are racking up debt they can't even imagine, while they play at college with their un-ending loans and sponge off Mom & Dad's insurance. Most of them still expect Mommy and Daddy to pay their cell phone bills. These kids have never even seen a pay stub for the most part.

I know they are Obama's base - he made that crystal clear with his campaign locations. Why else would he have scheduled almost all his campaign speeches in High Schools and on College campuses. He sure wasn't getting his campaign money from these kids - that was all coming from Mega Rich people that would get payback and the Hollywood crowd.

Obama is their Pied Piper.

The SCOTUS found it unconstitutional.

The judges creatively wrote gibberish to defend an indefensible vote.

NOBODY can create a rational trail of reason for any of it.

You must have missed the story where its going BACK to the Supreme Court because the bill was signed in the Senate prior to the House, as a tax increase bill.

Or did you miss the part in your 5th grade education class where it discusses that all tax increaes must be passed in the House first..

Either way, you dont know what you're talking about and an education is in store for you.

Also, it's clear that there is a difference between campaigning and holding the office. While campaigning, the candidate Obama is free to express his vision, which was an ideal one for this country. As President however, he cannot act alone. The structure of our government doesn't allow him to, so naturally, some subset of his vision is not going to get implemented. Can't believe I have to explain this. It's common sense for God's sake.

Incidentally, the President has consistently reached across the table to compromise with the hapless Right. Even under criticism by his own party he has done so. In fact, it was he who said that "ideological purity doesn't get things done". This is a man who invites perspectives from the opposing side, and would implement good ideas from the Right if they were credible or the best available. Unfortunately, the Right has nothing, can offer nothing but obstruction. Your criticism of this President is ridiculous, but expected given that your party is in a free fall, and the Obama's presidency has thus far been a resounding success. Not so for the Congressional Republicans, especially the House GOP. The House GOP is the worst in history, a truly shameful and embarrassing bunch.

You're right about the Pubs in Congress. It is a stupid move, but not unexpected. Republicans are the party of idiotic decision makers, intent on protecting the rich while everyone else goes to hell. The GOP is the party of bigots. Stands to reason that this inept bunch would take this tactic. They can't do any better.
"our first paragraph is absolute nonsense."

Many have said the same thing about EVERYTHING you say.

Wow. You certainly do have a low opinion of our young people. With a special reserve, I'll bet, for college students.

How is it you know everything this entire demographic is doing?

I don't know what political party you are - but whatever it is, you are going to need young people. They are going to take over whilst you and I fade away.

Not exactly, but the Supreme Court did set it up for a follow up challenge by emphasising that its a tax increase, which must be passed in the House first.
