Assuming everything in the article is accurate...yes, I'd say it has gone too far. But I also question the common sense of parents allowing adolescents to use airsoft guns unsupervised.

The mom of the house where it happened was gone to take her youngest to head start, and the 16 year old sister was in charge. The mom said he was breaking her rules. The school used that to enforce the punishment. Using the gun on private property is not illegal, but using them "without permission of the owner" is against the statue. So the school used that as part of their justification.
The kid who stayed in his yard now has to go to alternative school. That should help turn him into an actual delinquent.
BTW- In the first thread on this, several liberals defended the school and agreed with the actions. I would have thought this was a common sense issue for most people across the spectrum.

Without getting into a discussion slamming the parents for letting these kids access these "toys" when they weren't there...what the school did was BS and you're right, sending him to alternative school will just make him a good little delinquent.
