This could get interesting with Rick Perry's appointee making the final decision. The statement by the Biology professor is perfect.
Quote:
AUSTIN, Tex. — One is a nutritionist who believes “creation science” based on
biblical principles should be taught in the classroom. Another is a chemical
engineer who is listed as a “Darwin Skeptic” on the Web site of the Creation
Science Hall of Fame. A third is a trained biologist who also happens
to be a fellow of the Discovery Institute, the Seattle-based center of the
intelligent-design movement and a vice president at an evangelical ministry in
Plano, Tex.

At the public hearing this month, Michael Singer, a biology professor at the University of Texas who teaches courses to nonscience majors, said his students were often nervous about learning evolution. “I tell them that the Book of Job says that their faith will be tested,” he said. “You don’t need faith to believe what the evidence suggests. You need faith to believe what the evidence doesn’t suggest.”
This comes up every year or so and people go bonkers over it ..... thing is that it never comes to anything. The only time the Bible pushers even got close was 1984 and the Texas Attorney General put a stop to it.
The fake "Crisis" in Texas over textbooks and "Religious Bozos" plays well to the totally uneducated masses, but it just never happens. I won't even bother to explain why it never happens - because nobody has any interest in that. Continue on with the off the wall web-sites that threaten Armageddon in Texas and don't concern yourself with why you always hear it "a Crisis" and never hear "it went poof".
Enjoy the "Crisis" that is a Bright Shiny Object to distract from real live issues. This long sad story of "panic" has been going on for over 30 years and it hasn't happened yet.

The fact that creationists are continually appointed to the state science textbook adoption panels is not sensationalism.
