Since liberal ideology is geared to help the unfortunate, does it mean liberals themselves are more compassionate?

Sure they are. With other people's money, of course.

"Helping the unfortunate" is just the delivery system for the same greedy ends that they accuse their partisan counterparts of engaging in.

But perhaps worse.

Implying that Liberal ideology is altruistic is probably the most idiotic premise anybody could ever cling to.

EDIT: Does it mean they are more compassionate? No. It means they are more political.

It depends on the person at hand: liberal or conservative. Too; it depends on WHICH topic at hand. Many liberals want amnesty for illegal aliens but other liberals want EVERY illegal caught to be deported on the spot. Many conservatives support the 2nd Amendment but some also support abortion on demand.

no they are not. the reality is that our elected officials are out for themselves. they want to gain as much power as they can and they will lie, cheat, and steal to get it. it doesnt matter if they are a republican or democrat. sure they will tell you that they want to see people succeed on their own, but if they can keep 10% more people on the government dole than they did before, they get more votes, while keeping people down and having those people they keep smashed under their thumbs feeling good about it. and you can tell come election time. you hear, we need to vote all them idiots out of congress and replace them, well except my guy who is good. and then the large majority of those in congress running for their seat, get voted back into office.

and it sounds compassionate to say, we need to help the poor, lets give them money every month to help them get out of their current situation. but that doesnt help because when you start giving money to someone who hasnt earned, they get lazy and stay on the dole.

but when you get people back to work, because you really did do something to make the business environment more friendly, then you are truly compassionate. remember the old saying give a man a fish, and he has had a meal, teach a man to fish and he eats for life.

How so? Most of the things they are passionate about are things that don't make anyone rich, but improve the quality of life for million of humans and nonhumans. Protecting habitat for rare plants and rodents. Providing health care for the infirm and indigent. Ensuring that inner cities have decent schools. Making sure our air and water are not toxic. All are primarily liberal initiatives. That is not to say that conservatives don't care about these things, but they rarely initiate such efforts, and more often than not oppose them.
