It's funny to me that anyone thinks that Paul's comments weren't made knowing full well it would be on a 'hot mic'. Did you really listen to what he said? He said that the polling was just on GOP not negotiating. He was quite pointed to say that the Democrats were unwilling to negotiate. Look, these guys, all of them, are crafty when it comes to this stuff. They KNEW it would get lots of play and what's the takeaway message? That the GOP is willing to negotiate and they think they're on the right path. Also, that if the polling was different, they would come away looking better. That remains to be seen if that is true or not. There was nothing damaging in his remarks no matter how some want to try and spin it.
Which is, of course, the whole problem. They're not trying to solve a huge problem, they're trying to WIN!! At any cost!
It shows the corruption of the public servants. They think they will win if they parrot the "Obama won't negociate" line long enough, but the truth is that no one is bying the line.

Although the government shutdown continues, it appears President Barack Obama and the White House are not getting any closer to negotiating with Republicans. A quotation from an unnamed senior administration official in today's Wall Street Journal explains why.
Said a senior administration official: "We are winning...It doesn't really matter to us" how long the shutdown lasts "because what matters is the end result."
This is so embarrassing. Rand Paul sounds like a 14 year old trying to win a high school debate not a senator really trying to prevent a default and get the government opened. MCConnell sounds like the Donkey's butt he always sounds like.

You do realize it's two senators from the same state talking to each other, right?
It was anonymous - something often seen and used in journalism.
It was invented. Yes, I see it all the time. And bloggers and CD posters promoted them as if they were facts.
