No. I'm suggesting that the people in here who are up in arms about a kid being harassed over buying an overpriced belt don't show the same kind of umbrage when it comes to more important things, such as black kids being randomly shot to death every week in Chicago.
People of every race are periodically inconvenienced by something stupid. Plenty of non-black people have been thrown out of luxury stores because they weren't dressed appropriately or they're too fat or whatever. But they're not usually the ones who go running to the media to say they're a victim of discrimination.
There are plenty of non blacks that have ran to the media to complain about discrimination.
This kid wasn't just simply harassed. He was questioned, cuffed, and brought in. ALL stories like this deserve some sort of attention.
I'm not going to turn my head away because something happens somewhere else.
1) I am a law abiding citizen. Never been to prison, I don't cause problems in society. Why should I be willing to suffer for the guilty? Why should law abiding Blacks suffer for the law breakers who happen to be Black?
2) How does it help law-abiding Blacks to be subjected to further scrutiny because of criminals who happen to be Black? What do I, a law abiding Black man have to get out of it? How does it benefit me?
These are not rhetorical questions. I require straight answers for these questions.
Your response makes no sense. the thread is about barney's, you tried to change the subject to black on black crime sense you didnt like that barney's pulled that BS and got caught.
Seriously, are you really having this much trouble following along?

Why do you assume that people who are bothered by this Barneys incident aren't also bothered by the senseless violence that takes place in Chicago (and other places, for that matter)? Are you making that assumption because a thread isn't posted every time a random act of violence takes place? I often see this kind of flawed argument posted, as if a person can't care about the injustice this young man endured while also caring about other issues taking place in the country. It's as if some of you think that people can't care about more than one issue at a time. How ridiculous.
You don't know what other causes people are concerned about nor what they are personally doing to help with those causes. I live in the Washington, DC area, and I am an active member of my community. I have friends who live in Chicago and NYC, and they are active members of their communities as well. We are all passionate about working to help improve our respective cities, which includes addressing the issue of violence amongst our young people. At the same time, we also make sure that we stay aware of individual issues like this Barneys incident because that also has an impact on our communities. It is a clear cut example that even when our young men are taking the right path in life, getting an education, and being law-abiding citizens, they still have to deal with people who will pre-judge erroneously, and that will lead to situations like this. People are capable of caring about and focusing on more than one issue at a time. I don't know why that's so difficult for some of you to comprehend.
i will say it. but it won't stop you from whining, will it?
i certainly wouldn't point at such an event as evidence that 'You can't buy expensive items if you are young and [white]'
i also dont know why you are bringing race into this.
look at there facebook, there are many whites who are upset with this as well.
racism isnt something that is allowed to be tolerated anymore.
im going to call it out, and call it out loud when i see it, and you should be doing the same.
