The Portland Trailblazers certainly lived up to their name last week -- in a historic move, the athletes became the first NBA team to publicly take a stance on the battle for same-sex marriage rights.
what the owner said the portland trailblazers support gay marriage? hes speaking for himself. you can bet the majority of nba ballers wouldn't agree.
I feel its pretty mixed in sports. There's many players who just don't care. There's gay NBA players and gay NFL players and often times teammates know or suspect but don't make a big deal about it.
I think most athletes would just like to have the best players possible. If they happen to be gay, so be it.
You have to remember that most people have gay friends, family, etc.
Who knows maybe in the near future there will be tranny's behind the Blazer's bench in skirts and waving pom poms. When the players run to the bench the tranny's twerk in their direction.
This is why I have no interest in going to NBA games anymore. It's no longer about catering to the basketball afficianado. It's about glitz, glamour, and the fashionable political statement du jour. And selling those $100 tickets to the people who want to be seen.
I remember back in the day, going to the old Chicago Stadium. The game was the only thing that mattered, and politics was the furthest thing from our minds. The stadiums were not tax-subsidized, the players did not campaign for politicians, there were no pat-down searches to get in, and you didn't get hit with Orwellian propaganda once you got in. Nowadays I turn on local sports talk radio, and it either sounds like Face the Nation, with discussions of the latest stadium funding politics, or Dr. Phil with discussions of the latest baby mama drama surrounding some player or coach. No thanks.
What does gay marriage and pro sports have to do with each other. Why are pro sports taking stands on moral issues period and what difference does this really make?
In other news: The Fire Ant Society Of America is the first to support giving the Fog Horn Leg Horn Society the option to offer it's members an alarm clock with a snooze button. Why should roosters have to get up early anyway?!
In other words, who gives a damn what an NBA team thinks about gay marriage??

Do you feel the same way about fast food chicken restaurants, cake bakeries and the Boy Scouts?

It's pretty big because one of the biggest reasons why some gay or bisexual men aren't "out" is because its not accepted socially or because their masculinity comes to play.
When we think of the most masculine professions, we think of Pro Sports, Military, Law Enforcement, Firefighter, etc.
For one of the most masculine professions to support gay rights is a pretty big deal. And a big step in the right direction when it comes to treating all humans as equals.
It's not a "moral" issue. You can not make a morality argument on two grown adults engaging in sexual behavior unless harm is being done to one. You can make a religious argument, or spiritual argument, but not a "moral" argument.
