that was going to be my question. Google has some horrendous aspects when it comes to privacy and intellectual property. I have been interested in a new venture called startpage which offers an end run around google. Google keeps all your searches, but startpage gives a portal to google so that google cannot trace your searches back to you https://startpage.com/
What the USA said we disdained about the the former cold war communist governments surveilling their own citizens is now what our own government is doing to US under the guise of keeping us safe. Makes you think!
