Not only is this president plain creepy in the eye's of his own people, but he's plain creepy on the international stage. How weird would it be if you found out your neighbor was listening to your phone calls? Just imagine... Some middle age or 50 year old guy sitting in a dark room hanging off your every last word

I'd call her not too bright for not understanding cell calls over open airwaves can be monitored by anyone with the right receiver.

The Saudis are already close to it.

You have to ask yourself, why are they making this public? That is the only question that matters.

How do you figure that?

I find this thread to be amusing, considering the people commenting don't know squat about "spying."

Germany has spy satellites? Parked in geosynchronous orbit? Over Washington, DC?

That would be part of the "people commenting don't know squat about 'spying'" that I previously mentioned.

Do I really need to connect the dots?

Germany....Euro.....Dollar weak against the Euro......France....Euro....Dollar weak against the Euro.....Germany Iraqi oil bids.....Dollar weak against the Euro......France Iraqi oil bids...Dollar weak against the Euro......Germany encouraging Saddam to use the Euro.....Dollar weak against the Euro......France encouraging Saddam to use the Euro....Dollar weak against the Euro......Iran oil bourse....Dollar weak against the Euro......Brasil, Russia, India and China....Dollar weak against the Euro......China and Japan.....Dollar weak against the Euro......Conglomerate Chevron-BP.....Dollar weak against the Euro......Conglomerate Chevron-BP owning 75% of the royalty rights to petroleum and strategic minerals in the Central Asian 5.....Dollar weak against the Euro......Russia running 5-million barrel per day pipeline to the Black Sea.....Dollar weak against the Euro......Kyrgyzstan and China building the longest natural gas pipeline ever....through Afghanistan to Pakistan to Enron natural gas refining facilities....no.....to China....Dollar weak against the Euro......new pipeline heading from Central Asian 5 to Kamchatka Peninsula on Pacific Coast...Dollar weak against the Euro......US pushing conflict in Syria to get control of future oil and natural gas pipelines and strategic minerals coming out of the Central Asian 5....Dollar weak against the Euro......

Figure it out yet?

Why do you suppose the US would be interested in anything Merkel has to say? Think that might have something to do with Greece....and....Dollar weak against the Euro......?

In case you missed it, the Cold War never ended....it just got a lot colder with everyone shifting alliances here and there and jockeying for position to control the world's resources, because whoever does, you know, control the world's resources, gets to sell those resources in any currency they want.....the US naturally will want to sell in US Dollars, but the rest of the world? Not.

Geo-strategically...

Mircea

The NSA spying on Merkel and other world leaders shouldn't come as any real surprise here. This was disclosed years ago when James Bamford wrote about the NSA's spying activities in his book titled the Puzzle Palace. What's actually disturbing about this today is that the NSA has now started to do this internally in the United States. This was not the case years ago with the NSA. They were prohibited from spying on US citizens internally. After 911, this changed under Bush. But, it was suppose to be directed against persons of interest where probably cause came into play and people with known terrorist affiliations or those that were involved in question activities with potential terrorist. Today, under Obama, everybody is now spied on.

This administration is so busy spying on allies, it was completely clueless about the security risks in Benghazi apparently.

All this spying and they couldn't even prevent known Chechnyan terrorists from killing people at the Boston marathon. They were given warnings by the Russian government but completely ignored those warnings.

Lets not forget that GW Bush started the spying. After Sept 11 GW Bush started these spy policies to keep us safe from more terrorist attacks.

Why do people want to attack Obama for programs GW Bush created?

This may be true, but we still look like clowns here. If we are going to spy on our friends then we should have the good sense to not get caught.
