Renisha McBride, 19, got into a car accident at 2:30am on Saturday. So she knocked on the door to ask for help because her cellphone battery was dead. He shot her in the head.

Her aunt, Bernita Spinks, believes that her niece was racially profiled and made the following statement:

Family of slain Detroit woman seeks answers about incident

[MOD CUT]

----
This is the 2nd story this year (that I've read) about someone knocking on the door asking for help after a car accident and getting shot. God forbid this happens to me, I'll just wait until the morning and flag someone down.

They should charge the shooter who over reacted and cost that young woman her life. Why did n't the shooter ask " who is there and what do you want". The family is right he should have called the police since the woman did not try to enter his home.

The shooter should get whatever he/she deserves....

So, once again, before the lefties get in here complaining.....

Not all people who own guns are like the shooter....

We all don't have big truck's, we don't have sex with our guns, we have all our teeth, and this person was not a respectiable gun owner....

Terrible. [MOD CUT/off topic] What a terrible fate for someone just looking for help.

People who are overly paranoid should not have guns. Everyone is not out to get you.

I looked around for an update and can't find anything, not even the shooters name.

I want to get all the facts but so far it sure looks like a felony shooting.

But, but, isn't that the salient point of owning a weapon in an urban environment, to protect oneself? A fear based reason?

You cannot expect someone who feels the need to possess a firearm for self protection to NOT have some paranoia. It's an oxymoron.

Choosing to live in such an environment is the mystery for many of us.

Yes, the homeowner should be charged and tried for her murder.
