Walmart is the next big retailer to announce Black Friday starts on Thanksgiving Thursday.
This year they are opening at 6pm, two hours earlier than last year.

We need to get rid of the label "Black Friday" because it hasn't started on Friday for a number of years now.
6pm on Thanksgiving Day. The masses will need to plan an early dinner so they can line up at the stores.

Personally I'm already tired of Christmas since I've been seeing/hearing Christmas crap in the stores since early October.

Walmart to launch Black Friday sales earlier
Following a slew of similar announcements from stores including Target, Best Buy and Macy's, Walmart said Tuesday that it will hold two major sales events at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Thursday evening, two hours earlier than last year.
..
Stores moving major sales to Thursday is a "big move," said online deal expert Brad Wilson, founder of deal analysis website BradsDeals.com.

"We saw even in the last two years, when stores were opening Thursday, they weren't necessarily kicking off their promotions on Thursday — the best deals wouldn't necessarily start at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.," he said. "This really shifts the focus."

If the masses were offended, they would not show.

For years already, people have been lining up several days in advance at various retailers, pitching tents and sleeping in lin in sleeping bags and completely missing the Thanksgiving holiday, to be first in line when the doors open.

Your concern over the infringement on Thanksgiving, comes a litttle late... and is concentrated on the wrong people.

Don't like it? Don't patronize the stores. Problem solved.

That's easy for us to say, but what about the employees of said stores who can't just "not go to work" or they'll lose their jobs?

Personally, I think it's sick that these stores would open their doors on thanksgiving. The average guy has to give up time with his family while the fat cat CEO's and CFO's all eat a lavish meal and sit around lazily all weekend eating leftovers.\

People wonder what's wrong with people now-a-days? Look no further than examples like this. There is no family unit anymore. How could there be when everyones too busy shopping or working when they should be at home with family.

Are you trying to wage a War on Black Friday? Remember that Jesus was born so that we could all experience great savings on LCD TVs.

I dont see why all the hype over Black Friday anymore. There are other sales, online shopping, etc. I think its honestly a "tradition" for a lot of (crazy) people who shop that day. I know some girls who cook dinner, put their kids (and husbands) to bed, have cocktails and stay up to shop in the middle of the night. They make their own little tradition out of it. I do not, however, see the fun in staying up all night just to shop.
But even though I dont participate in this I dont get upset that these stores are open crazy hours on holdays. If the employess dont like it, there is no one forcing them to stay.

Idiots love the Kardashians. Idiots love Jersey Shore. And idiots line up at 4 am to go shopping for crap they don't need on the only holiday that had not been commercialized. Alas, this is America and idiots are free to do whatever they want.

You think Thanksgiving hasn't been commercialized?

Allow me to introduce you to my turkey hat.

Actually as long as the masses bow to the wishes of retailers this earlier and earlier opening will continue to occur.
