The thing that makes Canada so attractive is that you don't have Republicans there. Even Rwanda is quickly becoming more appealing than the USA.

Even after a genocide this nation came together and is destined to prosper and this country cannot get it together due to obstruction by Republicans. Shameful.

I already previously expressed my support for this.

A union of the U.S. and Canada would probably essentially be a de facto annexation of Canada by the U.S. due to the fact that the U.S.'s population is much larger than Canada's. If the Canadian people are cool with, it, then let's do this!

Perhaps a difference here in Canada is we sometimes disagree with our politicians, but we dont hate them or create an entire news media that fans the flames of hating our politicians, Politicians are what they are and every few years you vote em out of office if you dont agree with them.
For Canadians viewing whats going on in the USA we just observe with disbelief at the rightwings hate venom and vitriol and the general rightwing attitude of relishing the thought of America failing, incredible how so many would rather watch their country fail than pitch in to solve the countries problems.
No a Canadian/USA merger would never work on many levels the biggest of which would be ideological differences.

I am strongly in agreement with you that this is one thing which the U.S. can learn form Canada from.

So what? We have the water and oil.

Oh, and the same goes for abortion, against which there are no laws here. Tell ya what: we'll increase our portion sizes for you.

I shed no tears when Ralph Klein died. Nor would I weep if Harper were to be hit by, say, a blimp. But for the most part I agree with you. Conservatives as a rule aren't vile, they're just wrong.

The Canadian people would never be cool with it; it would have to happen by force. Then you'd have the whole Commonwealth getting involved and it would get pretty ugly.

IMHO the key would be Quebec. If it decides to do a "Texas Alamo" on Canada; either the rest of Canada puts its foot down on Quebec or many of your "states" may say "F it" and ask to join the US.
