American envoy Chris Stevens paid with his life in Benghazi after he tried to retrieve U.S. weapons given to the al-Qaeda terrorist network, a new report says.
James and JoAnne Moriarty, two Americans serving on a non-governmental organization fact-finding mission, told the Voice of Russia that Stevens initially transferred weapons, including surface-to-air missiles, to radical Islamists in Libya to help overthrow dictator Moammar Gaddafi.
Al-Qaida, the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group and Ansar al-Sharia -- which actually act as one -- reportedly assisted NATO and the United States in toppling the Tripoli regime.
Once Gaddafi was out of the way, the alliance turned its attention to Syria. Stevens, James Moriarty asserted, was instrumental in sending weapons to the terrorists in Syria with the help of Abdelhakim Belhadj, leader of the Islamist al-Watan Party and former head of Tripoli Military Council.
But then Stevens tried to retake possession of the weapons, including 20,000 MANPAD surface-to-air missiles, from the terrorist network. That didn't go over well.
All of that I can see taking place. The taking over two north African strategic locations in Egypt and Libya, and then going after Syria - not saying it is true, but it is within the realm of possible reality.
Like we been saying all along. Nobody cares anymore. They don't care about Stevens or Syria and now are trying to morph away from the obamacare debacle. The media now runs the country full of idiots...........propaganda is the ultimate weapon the communists have always known that. They are winning.
Besides, this is such old news, it's developing wrinkles!

Interesting. So you admit this was a CIA op and the video story was a fake. And you take the GOP to task over it. But Obama had the maker of that video thrown in jail for a year. There's no pure, rank, political opportunism in that?
If Obama had come out on Day 1 and made a statement himself saying there was a classified operation going on designed to prevent future loss of American life and the details cannot be released due to national security, then the episode would have been over.
But it also would have gone against his previous statements that Al Qaeda was on the run.
So instead of doing that, he picked an innocent civilian to frame for the deaths. A random guy who happened to be convenient because he'd done a youtube video.

This is no "phony scandal." It is very serious, and the cover up even more so. But, what the OP is "revealing" is very old news. We already knew that.

If there truly was anything to all of the horrible, gut-wrenching allegations coming from the right, why is it that Darrel Issa's investigating committee has been totally powerless in backing any of them up with something besides right-wing pundits endlessly repeating each others' rumors?
Where are the indictments?
Are Issa and the House Pubs nothing more than childish incompetents, incapable of indicting a ham sandwich?
Or are these accusations a bunch of birther/muslim/Kenyan baloney as we've been hearing nonstop for the past five years?

History is full of covert operations gone bad and how those in charge dealt with them.
The US cannot admit they were funneling Libyan arms to Syria via Turkey.
All countries play that game. Cash to countries at war labeled "Humanitarian aid" is nothing but a cover for bankrolling wars.
Saying it was the video for a week was a poor choice and shows the US didn't even try to talk to other countries before they spoke. No "global coordination" with this one.
They could have said terrorist attack and still covered it up.
