Leave it to the same crew of CD Conservatives to not understand how 1+1 > 1+0
Yes, I emphasized that America has a progressive income tax. Now he might have asked for a definition for progressive income tax. That is legit, but to say I am not using the right language or imply I guess that I am trying to hide what a progressive income tax does is illogical.

Yep, control what you can take home and keep you down, period.
So it is fair that if you make more the higher percentage the government will take? Hey, don't ever dream about making better and better money because the Obama deems it unfair and want a larger percentage.
You are allowed to keep 80% of $200k.
You only get to keep 60% from your work beyond $200k. A pay cut after you make a certain amount, thanks to yours truly, the government.
The link is from CNBC. I guess leftists won't be able to attack the source...
actually you can ... CNBC is a bunch of morons.
take this article, for example. the author's argument is based on her view that anyone who earns in the top 40% ( $78,900 / year or more ) is "Rich." That's a serious perversion of the word "rich."
second, the article pretends as if payroll taxes don't exist. It also pretends that sales taxes, property taxes, and state income taxes don't exist. It says "TAXES", as if it was including all taxes, when it is just one particular type of tax.
if you torture the numbers enough, they will confess to whatever you want.
That is scary that the bottom 40% are actually getting back so much money on their income tax payments. I don't have an issue with the top 5 % paying 95% of the taxes if they are also making 95% of the income, but I do think it's wrong that there are people who actually get a bigger refund than the taxes that they pay. Especially considering that appears to be the case for such a significant part of the country.
??? I earn minimum wage and don't get anything back. I had no idea I'm in the top 60%.

It's not that Obama deems it unfair.
It's that Americans deem it unfair.
Like it or not, there are poor people in our society. There have always been poor people, and there always will be poor people. Charging a poor person the same as a rich person for taxes does not make sense. The poorer person has to use a larger percentage of his income to survive. Charging the same percentage across the board puts poorer people at risk of NOT surviving. That's why EVERY society that institutes income taxes uses a progressive tax system. That's why AMERICANS chose a progressive tax system. It's irrational to insist that someone earning $8100 a year pay the same percentage as someone earning $81 million a year.
And I earn less than you and get NOTHING back. I have no itemized deductions. I have no children. The reality is that there are persons and corporations that make millions and who pay very little and even nothing in federal taxes, and there are people who earn below the national average who pay in taxes and get nothing back. The progressive income tax is offset by how tax exceptions, deductions, reimbursements and loopholes are used as incentives to encourage people to do certain things.
